The earnings of the first year in the Gulf went in paying off debts. The earnings of the second year were spent on the marriage expenses of the elder sister. The earnings of the third year were spent on the marriage expenses of the younger sister. The savings accumulated by the fourth year were also eventually spent on the medical treatment of the father. After toiling for four years, there was hardly any savings left, and what to do or not was the only concern.
After spending 5 long years abroad, they returned home. Everyone in the village had some hopes pinned on them. They distributed chocolates to everyone. The elder sister had become a mother of a son and a daughter. They gave a hundred rupees to each of them. When they went to meet the younger sister, instead of giving her any money, they just placed ten rupees in her child's hand.
Upon returning home, they found out that the elder sister had lodged a complaint against them over the phone. It was quite a shameful situation to be given only a hundred rupees after spending five years abroad. They even planned to ask for money from those who would come to visit them. If the younger sister hadn't given any money, they would have made a fuss over the ten rupees. Life passes by just like that, but why is it that everyone fails to understand each other's sorrows?
